Description
Made Gallery, Santa Fe – 2025
This piece is a contemporary reinterpretation of Girl with a Pearl Earring by Johannes Vermeer, reimagined through my own visual language — a fusion of urban painting, emotional intensity, and raw textures.
The mural aims to break the untouchable aura of classical art and bring it into the present through a more visceral, human lens. The female figure retains her intimate, enigmatic gaze, but now exists in a rougher context, with expressive brushstrokes, bold contrasts, and disruptive colors that evoke the street, the present, the imperfect.
The work is a dialogue between reverence for art history and the impulse to reclaim it with freedom and emotion. It invites the viewer to see something familiar through a different sensitivity — messier, more alive.
